Dr. William Samoei Ruto was sworn in on September 13, 2022, as president of the Republic of Kenya, after winning the Presidential election.

Prior to this, he held several leadership positions in the Kenyan government: he was appointed Minister for Agriculture in the Coalition Government that was formed in 2008 and served for three years and he was later appointed as the Minister of Higher Education.

In 2008, he graduated with a Master of Science Degree in Plant Ecology and in December 2018 graduated with a PHD in Plant Ecology from the same university.
