Winfred Mugambwa is Co-Founder and Executive Director of Rights 4 Her Uganda, an Ecofeminist Queer women led organization dedicated to promoting the intersectionality of Women’s Rights, Environmental Sustainability and Climate Justice in Uganda. She is an Ecofeminist and Woman Human Rights Defender with deep-rooted involvement in addressing climate-related conflicts and injustices. Her work bridges the critical nexus between environmental degradation, gender inequality, and human rights violations, particularly in marginalized communities. In 2023, she was honored with the prestigious Outstanding Human Rights Defender of the Year Award for the Central region at the commemoration of the International Human Rights Day by National Coalition of Human Rights Defenders Uganda and Defend Defenders. She serves at Climate Change Network Uganda (CAN-U) as a Board Member for the Central Node. She is the Thematic Head for the Key Population persons at the National Coalition of Human Rights Defenders in Uganda and the Vice Chairperson for the Technical Thematic Working Group (TTWG).
