Stefanie Pfahl has built a long career in German federal environmental policy, currently serving as Deputy Director General for International Bilateral Environmental Policy at the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Climate Action, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety in Berlin since October 2026. She previously held the position of Deputy Director General for Europe and European Environmental Policy at the Federal Environment Ministry of Germany (September 2022–October 2026), and prior to that served as Head of the Environment Unit at the Permanent Representation of Germany to the EU in Brussels (April 2021–September 2022).
