Senior Safety and Security expert at CERAC, focusing on the intersection between climate change, environmental risks, and national security in Belgium. Previously worked for more than 18 years within the Belgian Federal Public Service Home Affairs, including the National Crisis Centre and the Directorate-General Civil Security, where he was responsible for national emergency planning, crisis preparedness, international civil protection cooperation, and international emergency assistance missions.
Throughout his career, he has developed extensive expertise in risk analysis, crisis management, emergency planning, international cooperation, and the assessment of societal impacts of major disruptions. At CERAC, he contributes to the integration of climate and environmental risks into the Belgian security and resilience framework, strengthening cooperation between CERAC and national security stakeholders.
Roles in CERAC include analysing the implications of climate and environmental risks for Belgian national security and crisis management, integrating CERAC’s work with Belgian security and resilience policies, and maintaining and strengthening cooperation with security, emergency management, and crisis response actors.
