Malak Altaeb is an independent consultant, blogger, and researcher from Libya, currently based in Paris, France. She has a master’s degree in environmental policy from Sciences Po University in Paris and a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from Tripoli, Libya. She is a senior expert at the Climate and Water Initiative (CWI), where she works on sustainable resource management and climate resilience.

She is a former ecological security fellow at the Center for Climate and Security of the Strategic Risks Institute and a former non-resident fellow with the Tahrir Institute for Middle East Policy (TIMEP). Malak has worked with many entities, think tanks, research organizations, and NGOs; for example, she served as a policy consultant for the International Water Management Institute (IWMI) on water management and the circular water economy. She also worked as a consultant for the American University in Cairo, focusing on food security and AI in Tunisia. She recently had her case study published as part of her research with the Arab NGO Network for Development (ANND) in Beirut, Lebanon, where she analyzed the right to water in Libya which is part of a regional report on the right to water in the Arab region.

Malak has been actively involved in environmental policy since completing her master's degree in 2020. She has focused on water politics, food security, the circular economy, climate security and communication, and conflict analysis in the MENA region, with a focus on Libya, Tunisia, and the GCC. Her work has been featured in various publications such as the Arab Reform Initiative (ARI), ISPI (Italian Institute for International Political Studies), and the Center for European Reform (CER).
