Albert Martinez is an Environmental Policy Manager at the European Institute of Peace. He leads the Institute’s Climate and Environmental Peacemaking projects. Focusing on the Horn of Africa and the Middle East, his work uses environmental issues as entry points for conflict resolution and prevention.

Prior to joining the Institute, Albert worked at the United Nations Environment Programme coordinating climate security projects in Sudan and Nepal, and researching the use of digital technology in environmental peacebuilding.

Albert is a member of the Environmental Peacebuilding Association and holds an MA in International Administration and Conflict Management from the University of Konstanz (Germany), an MSc in Political Science from the Pompeu Fabra University (Spain), and a BSc in Environmental Science from the University of Barcelona (Spain).
