Dr Kira Vinke heads the Center for Climate and Foreign Policy at the German Council on Foreign Relations (DGAP). She serves on the Federal Government’s Advisory Board for Civilian Crisis Prevention and Peacebuilding, which she co-chaired from 2018 to January 2025. Previously, Dr Vinke led the EPICC project and worked as a research analyst at the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research (PIK). She has conducted extensive field research in South Asia, the Pacific, and the Sahel, and has consulted for GIZ and the Asian Development Bank. Dr Vinke holds a doctorate from Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin on climate change and migration, for which she received the “Potsdamer Nachwuchswissenschaftler-Preis.” She also serves on the advisory boards of BAKS, the German Climate Foundation, World Vision Deutschland, “Aktion gegen den Hunger,” and “Brot für die Welt.”
