Addressing Gendered Obstacles to Climate Security

When: 11 October 2022 | 14:05 – 15:05

Format: Roundtable

The evidence is clear, the unique experiences of underrepresented and oppressed groups must be integrated into conflict sensitive climate action. Without meaningful opportunities for marginalized groups, sustained peace will remain out of reach, while vulnerabilities increase. this panel will explore obstacles and opportunities to move towards a gender transformative climate for peace.

In this roundtable, hosted by the Embassy of Ireland in Berlin, speakers will share their experiences from across the globe, focusing on daily lived realities of those most affected by the double burden of climate and conflict crises. Discussants will also shed light on policy options for climate security to support addressing the prevailing gender norms and power structures which dictate the vulnerability of the most excluded groups.
