BCSC 2026 Speaker: Dr Franziska Hagedorn
Dr. Franziska Hagedorn heads the division ‘Western and Northern Europe (non-EU)‘ in the German Foreign Office, including Arctic policy as well as bilateral relations with the United Kingdom, Norway, Iceland, Switzerland and Iceland. Her division also deals with relations with Council of Europe.
Dr. Hagedorn is a career diplomat. Before taking up her current role in 2022, she held the position of German Deputy Ambassador to Canada. She has worked with a focus on security policy in German representations in the Middle East (political officer) and the EU (representative to Council working groups). In addition, Dr. Hagedorn has served as a Member of Cabinet for the President of the European Council, in the EU Military Staff and in the German Chancellery.
Dr. Hagedorn is married and has three children.
