Bridging the Gap to Achieve Impact: Mobilizing Gender-responsive Finance for Climate, Peace and Security

When: 28 April 2026, 10:30AM – 12:00PM (ET)

Format: Hybrid briefing

Venue: United Nations Plaza 2, DC2- 2414 (24th floor) and online

The Climate Security Mechanism (CSM) and UN Women, in partnership with the Women’s Peace and Humanitarian Fund (WPHF), Peacebuilding Fund (PBF) and Green Climate Fund (GCF) are pleased to invite climate and peacebuilding funds, other relevant finance institutions, and experts working on Climate, Peace and Security (CPS)financing for a hybrid briefing on the side lines of the Berlin Climate Security Conference NYC edition to discuss gender-responsive finance for Climate, Peace and Security (CPS).

Women in all their diversity play a key role in tackling the climate crisis and conflict, yet gender-responsive CPS initiatives remain underfunded. Therefore, stronger commitments are needed to integrate gender priorities into CPS financing. To address this, the UN Women, the CSM, the WPHF, the PBF and GCF launched the “Women, Peace and Security in Climate Action” joint pledge at COP30 to strengthen collaboration and break silos on Women, Peace and Security (WPS) within climate action and finance

To advance this pledge, a two-part series was organized. In an interactive consultation on the sidelines of CSW70, women peacebuilders and environmental human rights defenders from conflict-affected and climate-vulnerable regions gathered recommendations to inform CPS financing. As a second step, this hybrid briefing with climate and peacebuilding funds will build on these insights, focusing on practical steps to mobilize funding, integrate gender considerations, and strengthen women’s participation and leadership. The goal is to identify concrete solutions to make CPS financing more accessible, effective, and inclusive for women and marginalized communities.

Interested participants are invited to RSVP by 24 April 2026.
