After completing a Bachelor's degree in Forest Science & Resource Management at the Technical University of Munich, Kathrin Samson studied Wildlife and Conflict Management in Munich (Master's degree).

She started her professional career at WWF Austria in 2006 and moved to WWF Germany in 2011, where she held the position of Interim Chief Conservation Officer until 2023. Kathrin Samson has been Chief Executive Conservation since 2023.
