BCSC 2026 Speaker: Dr Ahmed Ekzayez

Dr Ahmad Ekzayez is the Deputy Minister of Emergency and Disaster Management in Syria, bringing extensive leadership experience in disaster response, humanitarian operations, and resilience programming. Prior to his current role, he served as Head of Programmes with the White Helmets (Syrian Civil Defence), where he contributed to the strategic direction and implementation of large-scale emergency and disaster response operations. He previously led the Food Security and Livelihoods portfolio at the Syria Recovery Trust Fund (SRTF), overseeing major programmes across northern Syria. Earlier in his career, he worked as a consultant and technical expert with UN agencies and international NGOs, designing and managing food security, agriculture, and humanitarian programmes in Syria, Türkiye, Bangladesh, Nigeria, and Uganda. His experience spans emergency response, programme leadership, food security and livelihoods, institutional resilience, and the management of complex humanitarian crises.
