Veronica Stratford-Tuke joined International Alert in March 2024 as Head of Peace Economies. In this role, she oversees International Alert’s efforts to shape economies that support lasting solutions to violence. This includes harnessing the positive impact of investment for peace, working with private investors and development finance institutions. Veronica has over ten years’ experience establishing and leading teams, policy, programming and research on conflict and governance issues. Prior to joining Alert, she worked for the UK government’s Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office. She has a Master’s degree in Conflict, Security and Development from the University of Birmingham and a Bachelor’s degree in Arabic and French languages from the University of Manchester. She has published academic research on traditional security and justice in the Horn of Africa.
