The transition towards climate neutrality and climate-resilient development requires substantial financial resources. Emerging economies face the challenge of financing this transition while simultaneously addressing development needs, economic competitiveness and rising costs from climate-related damages. At the same time, the energy transition is increasingly becoming a security and geopolitical issue. It extends beyond environmental and technical considerations to questions of resilience, security and geopolitical positioning.

Nigeria, Indonesia and India illustrate different approaches to managing these challenges. While their energy systems, development models and policy instruments differ, all three countries face the challenge of reconciling development priorities with increasingly internationalized pressures and opportunities arising from the global green transition. The roundtable considers how policy instruments such as carbon pricing, energy price reform, and climate finance shape the distribution of transition costs and benefits, influence economic and energy security, and affect international dependencies.
