Antônio Sampaio is an independent researcher with more than 20 years' experience in research, writing and project management in the fields of peace and security. He is also a PhD candidate at the War Studies Department at King's College London. He has worked for 15 years in some of the world's leading international security think tanks, including the International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS) and the Global Initiative Against Transnational Organised Crime (GI-TOC). Antônio has also worked as a journalist in Brazil. His recent research has specialised on climate security in cities, including risk management, resilience policies and the intersection of climate change and security issues, including environmental crime and the vulnerabilities of rural migrants moving to cities.
