Eva Svoboda is currently the Director for International Law, Policy and Archives. From 2012 until 2018, Eva worked as a Senior Research Fellow with the Humanitarian Policy Group (HPG) at the Overseas Development Institute (ODI) in London. Between 2016 and 2017 she worked as the senior expert for detainees and missing at the United Nations Office of the Special Envoy for Syria. Eva first joined the ICRC in 1999 carrying out various operational assignments in Sudan, Myanmar, Iraq, East Timor, DRC, Egypt and Algeria as well as working at headquarters in Geneva. Prior to joining the ICRC, Eva worked for the Swiss Development Agency and various non-governmental organisations. She holds a MA in Philology and Middle Eastern Studies from the University of Bern and a Master’s in Public and International Law from the University of Melbourne.
