
Mr. Thomas Ungerbuehler is a senior police executive seconded from the Bavarian State Police, Germany, to INTERPOL since 2022. As Assistant Director for the Environmental Security Sub-Directorate, Mr. Ungerbuehler leads five crime areas within Environmental Security addressing the threat of illegal mining, forestry, pollution, fishing and wildlife trafficking. Prior to his appointment as Assistant Director, Mr. Ungerbuehler served as Strategic and Operational Coordinator in the Executive Office of the Executive Director Police Services of INTERPOL. Mr. Ungerbuehler has nearly 40 years of law enforcement experience, particularly in serious organized crime and terrorism/extremism investigations. During his tenure in the Bavarian State Police, Mr. Ungerbuehler held a variety operational and leadership positions in different departments.
