25 years of Women, Peace and Security – What has been achieved?

To mark the anniversary of the landmark Women, Peace and Security agenda (UNSC resolution 1325), this high-level spotlight session will explore normative and policy advances made over the last 25 years, as well as the linkages between gender, climate change and security and the need for more gender-responsive climate action in fragile and conflict-affected settings.  This session will also highlight how women’s organisations and networks continue to drive the agenda at the grassroots and international levels and can bridge gaps left by formal actors. Speakers will share practical examples, innovative solutions, and lessons learned to scale up inclusive and effective approaches move that beyond commitments to action.
