H.E. Michel-Stéphane Bonda is Gabon's Minister Delegate for Water and Forests and Deputy Minister of Environment. As a central actor in one of the earth’s key carbon sinks, the Congo Basin, Gabon’s has played an important role in stewarding the Congo  Basin Forest Partnership. As the leader of the United Nations Security Council this October, Gabon is pushing the climate change agenda within the council and demanding increased adaptation financing ahead of COP27 while highlighting how climate change contributes to conflict and insecurity.
