BCSC 2026 Speaker: Mathilde Jourde
Mathilde Jourde is a Research Fellow at the French Institute for International and Strategic Affairs (IRIS) and Head of the Climate, Environment and Security Programme. In this capacity, she also serves as Co-Director of the Defence and Climate Observatory, a project funded by the French Ministry of the Armed Forces. As a climate security expert, she specialises in the intersection of climate change, geopolitics, and defence. More specifically, her research focuses on the consequences of climate change on geopolitics and defence-related capabilities. One of her main research areas examines how climate change is integrated into the dynamics of hybrid warfare and weaponised by states as a tool of power and influence. This includes analysing the strategic manipulation of climate-related information by states as part of information warfare.
