Mona Koehler-Schindler is currently working as a Staff Officer, Climate Security within the International Military Staff at NATO HQ. Previously, she served as a member of NATO’s International Staff in different positions at NATO HQ and in NATO’s Resolute Support Mission in Afghanistan. Most recently she worked as a Staff Officer, Climate Security within the International Staff (Innovation, Hybrid and Cyber Division) at NATO HQ. From 2017 to 2019, she worked as Political Advisor to the NATO Senior Civilian Representative to Afghanistan, providing political assessments and supporting civil-military cooperation. Before that, she served in different capacities at NATO HQ in Brussels, including in the Counter-Terrorism Section, the Science for Peace and Security Programme and the Strategic Analysis Capability Centre. Previously, she also worked for the OSCE in the Human Rights and Anti-Terrorism Programme at the Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) in Poland and for the German Federal Enterprise for International Cooperation (GIZ) in the Police Programme Africa in Cameroon and Chad. Ms Koehler-Schindler holds an Executive Master’s Degree on the International Law of Armed Conflict from the Geneva Academy of International Humanitarian Law and Human Rights and the Graduate Institute Geneva and a Master’s Degree in International Relations from the University of Aberdeen
